30% Off Summer Sale at J.Crew {still in stores!}

"Thanks!" to so many of you who have reported back that J.Crew is still offering an additional 30% off sale at their brick & mortar (B&M) stores. {Yey!}

It is not clear how long this promotion will run in B&M stores, but probably until they clear out the sale merchandise. (To make room for new arrivals.) There are some pros and cons discussed before, but worth mentioning again:
  • Pro: A lot of items are on sale in store and not online yet. If an item is on sale online and not in store, the store associate can match it.
  • Con: The sales are Final (so no returning once you purchased it).
Lastly, if you are curious as to what is on sale, then GigiOfCa has done all the work for you! Check out her "J Crew - new cuts & sale (Jun 27, 2012)" post from her {incredible} Gigi's Gone Shopping blog. (It is an amazing resource for JCAs- a must read and a definite bookmark!)

Will you be checking out the Sale section at your local brick & mortar (B&M) store? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. Thank you for creating this post Alexis, I had something to report from the stores but wasn't sure where to post it.
I was at the Fifth Avenue store this afternoon and the store is literally exploding with shoes on sale. If you are looking for shoes try to call them (I tried the metallic Sperries in a 6 but they were really small as I am usually a 7). The other stuff is hit or miss, they aren't incredibly stocked but the solid pencils are in another area of the store so if you are looking for one of those they might have it.
I scored the Gondola striped coat for $175 after discount. I had more or less crossed it from my list because it is more of a statement than something that will get a lot of wear but for that price I couldn't resist (unfortunately it was the only one in the store).

  2. Any sale shoe (esp sandal) recommendations, Ema? As someone whose stores don't carry a lot of shoes, I would love recommendations :) Thanks!

    1. I bought the patent Audras last week and they are very nice and seem comfortable from walking around the apartment although I didn't break them out yet. I also ordered and returned the Lucca sandals and they got to be the most comfortable sandal ever, I recommend if you like the chunky look. I returned them because the navy isn't really navy but a lighter blue that doesn't go with anything I have. By the way, if anyone is looking for these I returned them to the Soho store, they are a size 7 (fit TTS), they could still be there (they were shipped in a plain brown box that is easily recognizable).

    2. I tried various sandals on my blog on several occasions. You can search by name in the search box to see the reviews.

I ordered a second pair of the Malta Midheel Sandals this morning (this time in deep raisin). They look great and are not that high, so they should be perfect to walk in.

    3. Also a fan of the Audras! And Ema - it was 5th&17th not Rock Ctr right?

      Delete
    4. Yes, 5th and 17th. They must have received shoes from another store because they didn't have nearly as many yesterday when I put the coat on hold. Unless some styles went on sale today but the new ones that I noticed were the leather ballet flats on white (I didn't even know that they existed in white). These are a great deal at $69.99 before discount but I had to make choices ;-).

    5. Thanks for the recommendations :)

    6. I meant "the only new ones that I notoced were the leather ballet flats in white", sorry for typos.

    7. Ema, are the ballet flats in white a really light nude color or really white? Thanks for the help!

      Delete
    8. They are really white and as I said I had never seen them before. There is another color that to me looked like wild mushroom that is a nude without pink undertones (but they weren't in the sale section so presumably are not on sale). HTH!

    9. Hi, Rose. Have you tried the Maltas on? I couldn't find your review...wondering if they run TTS? Also wondering whether they would look better in the beige or raisin... Thanks for your help.

  3. So I just noticed online that the cotton-silk perfect shirt in raj paisley (#86109)is FINALLY on sale and now I'm on the hunt! My local stores have only small sizes in stock (as does the website) so if any of you lovely ladies happen to see a 12 or 14 in your local store, I would really appreciate any leads. Thanks!

  4. The J.Crew in Orlando was still running the extra 30% off as of yesterday, so they are more than likely still running it today. There were three of the Raj paisley maxidresses in size 8, a size 6 purple Lucille dress in scalloped eyelet, numerous Ella dresses in various sizes, a couple of the brompton safari cat clutches and candy stripe clutches, tons of shoes, and cotton pencil skirts (so check there if you are looking for a particular shoe or size/color of pencil skirt).

Also, I have the Promo-priced items lists for both the women and men posted on my blog. The stores usually have most of the same items on promo as the website, and they are eligible for the extra 30% off, but should not be final sale. :)

    Women's list here.

    Men's list here.

  5. My stores in Portland Oregon are stilling running the extra 30% off. I took a slew off returns in today. Not much new in the sale section EXCEPT Marci patent Wedges (which weren't there last week). I bought the Casablanca Blue, which is navy for $62.99. When I left around 1:00 there was still a size 9 1/2, 9, maybe an 7 and 8. Anyway about 4-5 pairs. If you're looking for them call 503-624-6386. I NEVER wear heels, but I felt comfortable and stable in these. And LOVE the color. Also I took my white Schoolboy Linen Blazer that I just bought at FP in for a price adjustment. Turns out only the Cerice color was $99.99 less 30% in the stores. But all the colors hit sale today online for $129.99, so my store adjusted my FP blazer to $129.99 then gave me the 30% in store discount! That's what I call super service! Tomorrow I'm visiting the Bridgeport store to see if any other goodies have showed up.

  6. A little OT, but I had to laugh this morning, the girl ahead of me on line sweetly told the SA "I have a few returns, ok?" and proceeded to empty 2 shopping bags and a large plastic trash bag. Fortunately she was very well organized and had all her paperwork. I bet I've read her posts here!

I was returning, too, WWFIFY Found Something For Me, all right, just not what I'd asked for. Kind SA placed the request again. Meanwhile I called a random store or two, had a few nice chats, and woo-HOO found my item! I think. Because a little while ago I got an email from Viscount WWFIFY in which he tendered his regrets that WWFIFY searched all over but couldn't find it. Meanwhile I wait to see if any of my phone calls will bring me a nice surprise, and if they do, the WWFIFY guys will get a little note from me.

  10. I went to my local b&m today and thankfully someone returned a few sale items in my size!! :) I picked them up AND asked the sales associate about the Tiered dot tank that just went on sale. She checked and gave it to me for the sale price + 30% off...woohoo! I hate to ask because the SA's at my store are just not friendly...I'm lucky if they would have priced matched only!

    1. That's great. Was it the tiered dot tank in navy? Or another color. Only navy is on sale online right now and I'm trying to wait patiently for other colors!

  11. 30% sale still on in Stanford, CA. The golden burgundy no. 2 pencil was marked down to $49.99—as you guys have noted elsewhere, this hit the sale racks fast—and even though they didn't have it in my size (only 00, 8, and 10 left in store), a lovely SA got the guy on the red phone to honor both the markdown and the additional 30%. So: $37.96 after tax. To quote the guy on the phone, "That's a pretty good deal." And by some stroke of luck it didn't count as final sale: I assume that was an accident, but maybe that's typical?

  12. Popped in to my store...some linen tippis have gone lower. The yellow (sun?) and dark purple were 29.99 pre-30%. I tried the linen stripe tippi for the first time and 'got the feeling.' even tho it wasn't super flattering on me (49.99 before %). They had the gold Audras, which I hadn't seen--super cute, but my feet slid around too much in them. Looked like the safari cat capris had taken another cut--maybe 29.99 pre-discount.

  13. If anyone has seen the Schoolboy Linen blazer in navy, size 4, (item 76756) can you put it on hold for me and let me know?? I saw it go on sale this morning, and hesitated because I thought an additional 30% off might be just around the corner (I have been buying quite a bit these past couple of weeks, and my husband has started telling me to slow down), and typical luck, it sold out early this afternoon!! Waah!! I called my PS and she says the navy, size 4 is sold out from the stores, but I'm hoping against hope that there's been a return somewhere....

Anyways, if anyone sees it, let me know ASAP!!! My email is stylishchemist at gmail dot com

  14. The 30% off is still going in the DC area as of today. An item that I think is definitely worth getting if you can find them in your store (I don't think I've seen them in mine) is the classic mini in double-serge cotton (item 88345), on promo for $79.50. On the last day of the online sale, I caved and got this skirt in both the bright spearmint and the brilliant blue, and they are both gorgeous, especially the mint. I think it runs a bit small -- I used to be consistently a 0/2P in JC skirts, but this year I have moved solidly into 2/4P. I think (hope!) it is only partly me, and partly is because sizing has become more realistic. I ordered these in a 2, and they fit perfectly, but as AudreyBella has noted in her review, this skirt sits at the waist, so even though it is a longer mini at 17.5", it starts higher and ends higher. I'd rather have it sit lower and end just an inch or two above my knees so I am reordering both in size 4 (I'm only 5'2" and the 2s end mid-thigh on me). In case any of you don't already know this, JC is very consistent about honoring your previous lower price when you do an exchange.

Another couple of quick reviews: I know I'm late to the game on this one, but the factory printed pencil skirt (item 37532) in jade (casbah print) is very very pretty and TTS. The factory embroidered pencil skirt (item 77636) in faded black sand is also so very pretty, much prettier than I remembered when this print was in the retail versions. (I remember and did not like the dress, cannot remember if it came in a skirt?) If there is another promo, I would definitely recommend both of these.

    1. kmo - The raindrop lace top was $69.99 in-store as of 5/2. My store sold out at fp, so I can't confirm if both colors were marked down. There have been mixed reports. They can ring the style# in the register and it should show them the current selling price.

  19. Alexis, thanks so much for the link love!

I had a lot of difficulties with Blogger on Wed A.M. and when the post published, it wasn't complete. I've updated the list and hopefully noted most of the new cuts. They're at the top of the post. I was in-store and didn't see any new cuts. Neither did Ema. A SA said she thinks the 30% will continue for a bit to clear merch out. The first fall rollout is schedule for 7/25. In the first couple of weeks in August, spring/summer merch gets shipped back to the warehouse. So we'll be seeing lots of popbacks online at that time.

  25. Hi!

Do you think there will be another online promo code soon? The nearest J.Crew store is a 3 hour drive away from my house, so I would prefer to purchase online.
I am interested in a no.2 pencil skirt, a scoopneck anchors blouse, a Saint James shirt, and maybe a funnel neck sweater. My dilemma thus far is what color to pick for the pencil skirt! Green, light rose, vibrant purple and neon pink all look good to me!

About the Saint James shirt, I am interested in the navy-pink. Has anyone seen it in person? Is the pink more vibrant than the online picture? Does it fit TTS?

    Thank you!

    1. marypopps: Final Sale will more than likely be back any day now, (since it was brought back last year on June 30th) so unless there is an extra % off this weekend, the next online promo will probably be accompanied by Final Sale, unfortunately. If you are wanting to try out the items with the option to return, it would be best to do so before Final Sale comes back.

    2. The navy/pink Saint James tee is pretty true to the online photo, the pink is fairly subdued. I know there was a discussion on here a few months ago about those tees, a few of us were quite disappointed with the fit--overly boxy with very wide sleeves. I found it to be extremely unflattering on me. I believe DaniBP put up a photo on her blog. HTH!

Also lots of giraffe and ram cuff bracelets for $50, the smaller brulee necklace for I think around $55, but only in the orange, which I think is the least pretty color. The ram NECKLACE is also on sale, altho I did not check the price as the SAs were in the process of marking down and I did not want to interrupt for a piece I was not intending to buy... Also the straw brompton clutch for $69. All prices listed here are PRE 30%.
